Let me tell you something. The meta tag description is alive and kicking and I am going to prove it to you.
You see I am an ardent user of Actinic Ecommerce Shopping Cart Software. I've been using it since version 4 and if there is one thing the developers cottoned onto was the fact that google amongst others loved pure HTML, meta tags like keywords and descriptions.
In Actinic, for every category and sub category you add to your catalogue you can enter your meta description and meta keywords. This means you can hone in on deep rooted URLs when you link your keyword phrase from your link partners.

Then the black hatters got to abuse the meta tags and we all suffered for it. Well nearly all.
Actinic stuck to their guns and I stuck with Actinic and we are now on version 8.
In the new version they have done away with the template system they had previously and now use a system that makes use of variables. These are components that can be reused throughout the design of your web site and even assign different values to them.
The potential for this way of working with your design has some huge benefits.
Only today I stumbled across a great way to make use of these variables. Well to be honest I have abused it.
The thing is, Actinic will automatically build you a sitemap for you as you develop your web site and add new categories and subcategories. This sitemap was pretty basic until I started messing with it. It just produced hyper links of your category titles in a big long list.
I mean lets face it, people don't read sitemaps do they, machines like google read them so they don't need to look pretty nicely nice.
So anyway I decided to grab my meta ta

g description in the form of a variable and strategically place it right next to the category title within the Sitemap layout. Just one variable is all it takes.
Refresh the web site with your newly reformed sitemap and bam, the titles now have fully assigned descriptions and if you have had the sense to use your keyword phrase within your meta descriptions you will have fully qualified deep linking URLs. These meta descriptions are the keyword phrases you are using as your keyphrase link on your partner sites right?
They're not. Go change them right now. Lets link back to our newly assigned sitemap and start ranking better and get yourself some free traffic in the process.
Go check out my appliance spare parts web site as see just what I'm talking about.
Now do a search on google and see how many actinic web site owners are actually taking advantage of this unique opportunity to get free traffic. OK, unique is probably a bit strong a word but it is an oppurtunity.

The reason I'm telling you about this is because I have just published this article to tell all you actinic site designers to go out and get your customer some free traffic right now and add some value to your portfolio. It wont cost you a penny to make this change to your customer web sites and it makes you appear that you have done some great work for the better of your customer. Let's face it, we all love something for free don't we.
If you find that this short article has benefited you in some way then why not republish it on your own article website and get yourself a ton of free traffic in the process.
All I ask is you include my appliance spare part URL in the article together with a list of your own customer URLs. Just remember to use the keyword phrase you are bidding on.
Thanks take care. Tony O.
